Inaugural Preparation of the Journal of Contemporary Chinese and Asian Studies

We are pleased to announce the official commencement of preparations for the Journal of Contemporary Chinese and Asian Studies (JCCAS).

The Journal of Contemporary Chinese and Asian Studies is a peer-reviewed international academic journal operated and maintained by independent scholars. Designed as a platform for scholars of Chinese studies to present their work, the journal simultaneously functions as an act of participant observation into contemporary knowledge production, symbolic exchange, and academic evaluation frameworks—thereby embedding itself as a textual practice within the broader narrative of contemporary Chinese society and its intellectual landscape.

Embracing an open and inclusive scholarly orientation, JCCAS encourages forward-looking theoretical, methodological, and interdisciplinary approaches, while remaining receptive to research spanning all historical periods from antiquity to the present. The journal welcomes contributions across history, political science, economics, sociology, law, media and communication, cultural studies, philosophy, international relations, and related fields, aiming to document and examine the multifaceted discourse surrounding academic publication within China, Asia, and the global scholarly community.

Preparatory initiatives currently underway include:

• Editorial Board & Advisory Structure: Convening an international network of independent scholars and institutional researchers across key disciplinary domains.
• Peer-Review Workflow & Ethical Guidelines: Implementing rigorous, transparent, double-blind review protocols and open academic publishing standards.
• Inaugural Call for Papers: Preparing thematic guidelines and submission deadlines for our forthcoming maiden issue.

We invite researchers, independent scholars, and academic institutions to follow our updates on this platform as we advance toward the release of our inaugural Call for Papers.
